One of the recommendations we got for Joshua Tree was to watch the sunset. 🌅 So we scurried into the National Park to catch it... and handstand in front of it 😏🤸
📍 We opted to watch the sunset from the highest point in the park - Keys View
📍 Keys View sits 5,185 feet above sea level. From this viewpoint, you can see Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, San Andreas Fault, and the Salton Sea. Supposedly, on a very clear day you can see all the way to Mexico! There is a nice paved road that will take you all the way up there. There is a parking lot, but arrive early as parking was already filling up about 1 hour before sunset. There is a paved walkway to the view point, making it handicap accessible, with a few benches and sitting areas.
The viewing area got very crowded… and loud. So we opted to walk beyond the walkway to find our own private spot to watch the sunset. It was much quieter and pretty tranquil. 🧘♀️
