In Hawaii, it is customary to return to the island what it gave to you 🌺 Over the month we have been here, we have collected many leis and palm weavings… So on our last day, it was only fitting that we walked down to the Duke Kahanamoku on Waikiki Beach to honor the tradition. ⛱️ I also read about an old custom - People leaving Hawaii on ships would throw their leis overboard upon departure. If the lei floated in the direction of the shore, it meant that they would be back to the island. I have no doubt we will be back to Hawaii one day 🤗 💁‍♀️ Have you heard of this tradition? #drjennytravels #waikiki #waikikibeach #oahu #hawaii #DukeKahanamoku #dukestatue #leis #hawaiiantradition #aloha #untilwemeetagain
