Women in science don’t just advance knowledge — they expand what is possible.
At UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the 2026 L’Oréal–UNESCO
#ForWomenInScience International Awards Ceremony recognised five extraordinary researchers whose work is changing lives.
From regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, to genomic research, climate-resilient agriculture, and new insights into brain health and nutrition — their discoveries are shaping the future of science and society.
Selected from 504 nominations across 89 countries, the laureates come from five regions of the world and share one thing in common: science driven by urgent global challenges and a commitment to improving human life.
Since its creation, the programme has supported more than 5,000 women researchers worldwide, helping to open doors for the next generation of women in science.
