#WorldEnvironmentDay, UNESCO has designated 14 new
#BiosphereReserves across 14 countries!
These territories are living examples of how people and nature can thrive together: protecting biodiversity, supporting sustainable development and strengthening local communities.
This year marks several milestones: three countries welcome their first biosphere reserves: Montenegro, Timor-Leste, and Aruba which sees its entire territory designated as such.
Since 1971, UNESCO Biosphere Reserves have helped demonstrate that conservation and development can go hand in hand. Today, they connect communities across a Global Network dedicated to learning from one another and sharing solutions.
