Photos by joelsartore | Active during the day, collared owlets are often seen perched high up in trees, surveilling for their next meal. These birds are on the lookout for smaller birds, which make up the majority of their diet, along with mice, lizards, and large insects. Always up for a challenge, the collared owlet has been known to take birds nearly its own size as prey when the opportunity arises. These photos were taken fonghuanggupark.
