In my 31 years I’ve never been to a proper county fair. I’ve been to a carnival before but not one like this with all the livestock, pie contests, vegetable judging, pig racing, milk chugging and all kinds of other farm-like things. I’ve seen them on TV before though and The Fayette County Fair didn’t disappoint. Even though I’ve been here for 2 years I still experience culture shock almost everyday. I like discovering all the traditions here though. It really is like a movie. A lot of times it feels like we live in Riverdale or occasionally I’ll get glimpses of scenes and people from Big Fish or the little town in Too Wong Foo. It really is a treat to experience. And yes I’m aware how unusual it is for me to get excited over these simple things as if I were from outer space discovering earth for the first time but living in cities all my life gave me a different experience for sure.
