Laine has had a rough season where he only played five games and recorded one assist. He had core muscle surgery last October and even though he claimed he was healthy, he finished the season on the injured list and didn’t play the second half of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
While struggling with chronic back pain, core muscle & clavicle injuries, and COVID-19, he’s still optimistic about the future ahead and wants an opportunity to play.
“I’m excited to see new opportunities and see where it goes. We’ll see where the wind takes me,” said Laine, “I’ll be playing in this league for a long time. That’s not a question. That’s never something I’ve doubted. I just kind of need an opportunity. Great shape, feel good. Still got a lot of time before next season, so that’s definitely something I’m not worried about.”
Could Laine have a chance to play on Matthews’ wing if Toronto lands him? 👀
