Completing a project in December but getting paid in January still means that income is already yours under accrued revenue rules.

• Accrued revenue is income earned but not yet paid, recorded as a current asset under GAAP
• Common in construction milestones, SaaS deliveries, and rental income
• Entry 1: when work is complete, debit accounts receivable and credit revenue
• Entry 2: when payment arrives, debit cash and credit accounts receivable
