Many walk past this monument outside the Eberly Building, but did you know it was created by former arts professor and internationally known artist Zeljko Kujundzic in 1982? This piece is another version of the installation at the Jewish Community Center in Uniontown, honoring Holocaust victims. Kujundzic was born in 1920 in Subotica, Yugoslavia, and was forced to serve in German labor camps and later became a Soviet prisoner of war himself. He escaped both, having trekked a thousand miles through Ukraine and Romania to post-war Yugoslavia. He passed away on January 23, 2003.
