Coming out of my shell One thousand years ago, a star exploded — and it was so bright that it lit up the daytime sky for weeks. The supernova hurled much of the star's material into space, creating a shell of debris that continues to expand even today. This supernova remnant (officially known as SN 1006) is roughly the size of the full moon in Earth's sky, but most of its shell only shows up with radio or X-ray vision — not visible light. This image combines data across a number of frequencies, collected by nasahubble, nasachandraxray, and several Earth-based telescopes. #NASA #Space #NightSky
