NASA is literally CHASING today's solar eclipse... and the reason is wild. 🌑✈️☀️ Everyone's talking about where to see today's total solar eclipse. But here's the part I didn't know. 👀 NASA is sending a WB-57 research jet about 50,000 feet above Earth and flying along the eclipse path at around 460 mph. Why chase the Moon's shadow? Because scientists get more time to study the Sun's corona, the faint outer atmosphere that becomes visible during totality. The cameras aboard the jet can capture at least 20 images every second in visible and infrared wavelengths. From the ground, the longest view of the corona is only a little over two minutes. By chasing the shadow?
