A man found guilty of touching women's hair as he sat behind them on Metro trains — and posting video to social media — was sentenced Thursday to 180 days in jail.
Bryan Betancur, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was found guilty of simple assault in D.C. Superior Court a day earlier.
"It's just a creepy thing to do," the judge said Wednesday in court.
Betancur was accused of surreptitiously fondling a woman's hair on a Red Line train in February.
The judge sentenced Betancur to the maximum time and gave him credit for time he’s already spent in jail, meaning he will be required to serve about another 54 days.
At the sentencing hearing, prosecutors pointed to how he bragged about violating the victim’s personal autonomy, referenced previous convictions and said his behavior appeared to get worse.
“He is terrorizing the community,” the judge said.
The defense asked for him to be released on time served, and the judge refused.
