The long line of kids photo is fools gold. Every trainer chasing the biggest group, the busiest session, the best “look how many kids I coach” photo for the gram. I get it, it looks impressive. But large groups don’t work, and development suffers over time. 15 years coaching and mentoring young athletes across QLD taught me that the hard way. I used to run it big, 6 academy locations a week, 30+ kids a day, before Hornets even existed. Thousands of kids came through. Somewhere along the way I moved away from all that, and toward long-term development of smaller, dedicated groups. I pride myself on spotting talent early, but the real skill has been evolving my systems to motivate kids to work hard over years, not weeks.
