The standard of tennis drills on Instagram is painfully low. My feed is dominated by shadow swings, choreographed patterns, clock drills and predictable basket feeding. They look clean. They generate views. They make players appear successful. But where is the opponent? Where is the uncertainty? Where are the genuine decisions, adaptations and consequences found in tennis? From a skill-acquisition perspective, many viral drills train players to reproduce an answer after the problem has already been removed.
