All aboard for one of South Dakota’s most iconic experiences. 🚂
The 1880 Train has been carrying passengers through the Black Hills for more than 65 years and is the world’s oldest continuously operating standard-gauge excursion train.
Today, this beautifully preserved steam train takes passengers on a two-hour, 20-mile round trip between Hill City and Keystone, winding through Black Hills National Forest, past old mining sites and some of the region’s most spectacular scenery. With narration throughout the journey, you’ll discover the history of the railroad and the landscapes that helped shape the Black Hills.
Just minutes from Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park, it’s a journey that’s every bit as memorable as the destination.
