Today is results day, and this day still means a lot to me. In 2003, I found out I had been accepted to study medicine at Cambridge. I had arrived in the UK alone at 15 after growing up through war in Afghanistan. My education had been disrupted, my English was limited, and becoming a doctor felt very far away. I started college, worked hard to catch up, and eventually achieved five As. Some people thought I was aiming too high. I kept going. Looking back now, what stays with me is how much a life can change when somebody is given a chance. So if you are receiving results today (or you are receiving them for your children) and they are not what you hoped for, please do not give up on yourself. There are many routes forward, and sometimes the path takes much longer than you imagined. Your starting point does not decide where you can end up.
