The new Hudson flag is hung up in downtown Detroit for Fourth of July weekend and the United States 250th anniversary. There’s a lot of history behind this 🇺🇸 Detroit’s Famous Hudson’s Flag • 1923: First unveiled on Armistice Day — 230 ft wide, 90 ft tall, with 8-ft stripes and 5½-ft stars. • 1930s–40s: Traveled across the U.S., even displayed at the Capitol and World’s Fair. • 1950: A new, larger flag debuted — 235 ft by 104 ft, weighing over 1,600 lbs. • 1976: Last raised for America’s Bicentennial before being retired. • Legacy: Covered seven stories of the J.L. Hudson building — a true symbol of Detroit pride. • Today: A new development on the Hudson’s site will feature a six-story flag to honor its history. #DetroitHistory #Hudsons #AmericanFlag #DetroitPride #MotorCityLegacy
