Marine iguanas like you've never seen them. Found in the Galapagos Islands, the marine iguana is the only lizard that spends significant amounts of time at sea. These unique lizards can dive to depths of around 30 feet, where they graze on algae, sea grass and other marine plants that grow on the ocean floor. But the ocean water they swim in is cold- a problem for reptiles like these that can’t internally regulate their body temperature. So after a swim, marine iguanas need to bask in the sun to warm back up! Learn more about marine iguanas with our Marine Life Encyclopedia. Link in bio. 📸: joshuavelaf #WorldLizardDay
