Did you know we rescue turtles? 🐢🌊   Approximately 1,000 endangered sea turtles were returned to the wild after being rescued during a recent cold-stun event when temperatures dropped and snow hit parts of Florida, sending sea turtles in the Gulf into peril. Cold-stunning is when sea turtles become incapacitated when water temperatures reach 50 degrees Fahrenheit or below, and the immobilized turtles may drown or be killed by predators.    USGS scientists, along with partners from fwcresearch, gulfworldmarineinstitute, teamtyndall, eglinafb, and numerous other organizations, took part in rescue operations, carefully removing protected turtles from the water and beach in St. Joseph Bay, Florida.
