These diamonds are thousands of years old… 💎🧊 and no, I didn’t find them at a jewelry store. 😂 This is Diamond Beach in Iceland, and the “diamonds” here are actually pieces of glacier ice that have been around for thousands of years. Chunks of ice break off from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and make their way into the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. From there, the waves carry these pieces of ice onto the beach, where they’re scattered across the sand and sparkle like diamonds. ✨ And yes, that sand is actually black! 🖤 Iceland has many black sand beaches because of its volcanic history. Lava cools, breaks down over time, and eventually forms dark volcanic sand,giving these beaches their signature black colour.
