Joe Gacy says he sensed his WWE release coming during WrestleMania weekend: "I think the ball was already kind of rolling."
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Gacy pointed to a string of signs in Las Vegas. The Wyatt Sicks shot a promo where each member finally got his own piece, the writers praised it, and it was cut from TV and aired online instead. A planned appearance on Tony Hinchcliffe's show was scrapped the day before. And in the SmackDown blow-off with the group as babyfaces, the MFTs went over, a decision Gacy says even others in the locker room found strange.
Gacy also confirmed the Wyatt Sicks began as Shawn Michaels' idea, and said Rob Fee in creative gave him a heads-up months before anything happened on TV. As for his controversial NXT debut, Gacy said Vince McMahon pulled him off TV after the first promo drew headlines, then reversed course after actually watching it.
