Sensational Sherri succeeded as both a wrestler and a manager at the top level, a combination few in wrestling history have matched.
As a wrestler, she won the AWA World Championship three times, beginning at SuperClash in Chicago in 1985. On July 24, 1987, she debuted in the WWF while still AWA champion and beat her own trainer, The Fabulous Moolah, for the WWF Championship. She held it for fifteen months, captained a team in the first women’s Survivor Series match, and lost the title in Paris in 1988.
When the WWF phased out its women’s division, she moved into managing full time. As Sensational Queen Sherri she guided Macho King Randy Savage through two years near the top of the card, including the WrestleMania VII retirement match. She managed Ted DiBiase, then spent a year with Shawn Michaels during his transition to singles competition, singing the original recording of Sexy Boy herself.
