The Process Behind Major Championship-Ready Greens ⛳️Verticutting TifEagle greens in 4 different directions to pull as much organic material out as possible. The reason they’re doing that is it also takes a ton of grain out TifEagle is notoriously grainy compared to other ultradwarf Bermudas. Greens look rough right now but reopen in about a month rolling smooth and true. Part of the prep for next year’s PGA Championship, about 9 months out. Both verticutting and aeration help firm up the greens and improve drainage for Texas’ heavy May storms ⛈️ so even if it rains hard during the Championship, players will still have firm and fast greens as much as possible. #PGAChampionship #tifeagle #golfmaintenance #greenskeeper Asked if they’re planning to skip verticutting around the greens on purpose to leave grain in and make chipping tougher for the players— they said no, so players may not struggle as much around the greens. #PGAChampionship #tifeagle #golfmaintenance #grain #chunk
