1 — Introduce yourself FIRST. 👋🏻
I know, especially if you’re an introvert, this is terrifying. But walk in and say:
“Hi, I’m Sally. I’m a first-year anesthesia student, and I’m so excited to be here.”
Boom. You just set the tone and the expectations/pressure is gone. Now everyone knows you’re new and is ready to teach/help. 😊
2 — Know your patients BEFORE you get there.
Anesthesia is a numbers game. You won’t be great at IVs or intubations right away — and that’s okay.
What you can control is knowing your patient, their comorbidities, and having an anesthesia plan ready.
Use a case log notebook or write on scratch paper
