Fairgoers on day one of the Iowa State Fair had the opportunity to watch ice carver Bill Gordish at work outside the John Deere Agriculture Building. Crowds of at least 30 at a time stopped by to observe and get sprayed by flying sawed-off ice in between their corndogs and lemonade.
After each carving is done, it's moved into the John Deere Agriculture Building to be on display next to the butter cow.
He has three more fair shows at 6 p.m. on Aug. 14-16, where he plans on creating a giant dragonfly and a piggy bank that fairgoers can put their money into.
