Urbandale could become the site of Iowa's first, and possibly only, location of the Buc-ee's travel center chain. Urbandale's Planning and Zoning Commission approved Monday, Aug. 10, a petition to amend the city's comprehensive plan to accommodate "corridor commercial" development at the southeast corner of 100th Street and Northpark Drive. That's a more than 20-acre piece of land just north of Interstate 35/80 at Exit 128 that's tied to Buc-ee's and a local realty company associated with a former Des Moines mayor.
