August 13th is World Calligraphy Day! This day was founded in 2017 by the Manuscript Pen Company and the Pen Museum and the day brings people together to celebrate the art of writing and the value handwriting in a digital world. For today, Jared decided to take a different direction from practicing calligraphy. After all, Why write when we can print? In this video, Jared letterpress printed “Happy World Calligraphy Day!”in 30 point Kaufmann Bold font. This font was selected because the typeface mimics cursive handwriting. The Kaufmann style of typeface was designed in 1936 by Max R. Kaufmann for the American Type Founders. This was printed with red rubber base ink using our Washington hand press. #SacHistoryMuseum #calligraphy #art #museumtok #printing
