The Holtville Vikings overcame an early deficit and earned a 21-12 win over the La Quinta Blackhawks.
La Quinta scored first on a touchdown by
#23, but Holtville’s
#11 Kadence Toten responded with a key interception on the conversion and a strong return.
Just before halftime, Toten hit
#8 Demi Mange for a touchdown to tie the game 6-6, then ran in the conversion to give Holtville a 7-6 lead at the break.
In the second half, Toten and Mange connected again for another touchdown, and Toten later found
#22 Joslynn Knight on the conversion to make it 14-6.
Defensively,
#19 Emma Britschgi added an interception, and Toten capped another drive with a rushing touchdown. Britschgi helped finish the scoring with a successful conversion, pushing the lead to 21-6.
La Quinta added a late touchdown but missed the conversion, making the final 21-12.
