Road trip days 8-9: Mammoth Lakes, CA to Shoshone, CA (Death Valley) – 260 miles. I wouldn’t recommend going to Death Valley National Park in May if you are not a fan of heat. Sergio and Kelsey met up with us for this part of our trip, we camped outside of the national park. Sergio & Kelsey were the real champs because they tent camped it all weekend with us in 100° weather (we did invite them to stay inside the trailer). We woke up at 3:30 AM to beat the heat, caught sunrise at Zabriskie Point, hiked Badwater Basin before the sun crested over, saw Artist Palette, and hit up Furnace Creek Visitor Center all before 9:30 AM.
