This image is climate change stripped of politics, rhetoric and noise. For more than a century, the planet’s temperature record was dominated by blue. Then the pattern changed. Slowly at first. Then unmistakably. The last few decades are not subtle. They are a wall of red. That does not mean every year is hotter than the one before it. Natural variability still matters. El Niño matters. La Niña matters. Volcanic activity matters. But none of those explain the long term direction. The baseline itself is moving. Humanity built modern civilization inside a relatively stable climate system. We are now pushing that system into conditions no modern society has ever had to manage at this scale. The argument is no longer whether the planet is warming. It is how fast, how far, and how much disruption we are willing to absorb before we act accordingly. The signal is not hidden. It is screaming!!! Image source: Ed Hawkins, University of Reading / ShowYourStripes.info. Global temperature...
