Phil Speak was the finance guy at Essendon Football Club. So how did he end up in training with the team every week, with the likes of Tom Bellchambers and Andy McGrath, helping with handball drills, tackle-bag drills? When the club opened up training sessions to the admin staff to get them closer to the football department, Phil kept turning up each week. So the coaching staff started giving him more to do, until he was holding the tackle bag for the pros to run through their drills. Phil built his career in finance and carried those skills all the way from Essendon to Brentford, Tottenham, and now back home in Melbourne at Golf Australia.
