✨ Why Does the Abdomen Still Look Rounded After Weight Loss?
Sometimes the issue is not only excess fat or loose skin. After pregnancy or significant weight changes, **rectus diastasis** may also contribute to a rounded abdominal appearance.
Rectus diastasis occurs when the two rectus abdominal muscles separate along the midline.
📌 During a tummy tuck, if significant diastasis is present, the muscles can be brought closer together with internal sutures. This is called **muscle plication** or **diastasis repair**.
The goal is to create a firmer abdominal wall and a flatter, more defined contour.
💡 Not every patient needs the same degree of muscle repair. The amount of separation, previous pregnancies, abdominal anatomy, and possible hernias should all be evaluated before surgery.
