Hot off the press. 🗞️ Assistant Field Director James Quigley from Chicago, Illinois, is quickly handing Sgt. Joseph Rousseau an emergency message that needs to be transmitted by radio to ensure it reaches the service member’s family as soon as possible. This was one of the ways our Red Cross field directors stationed in Korea during the war would connect families during emergencies. They would handle thousands of emergency messages a week that dealt with concerned American service members and their families. For more than 120 years, our Hero Care Center team has been there to help military families reach active-duty service members about family births, deaths, illnesses, injuries and more. These services are available 24/7, 365 days a year for military-connected individuals.
