Psychology and Kinesiology students learned about the mind-body connection in a new interprofessional course called Mind and Body, developed and taught by Psychology Chair Dr. Alice Kim.
During the course, Kinesiology students working through their on-campus placements were paired with Psychology students to serve as their fitness trainers, while Psychology students reflected on their experience by assessing their mental states before, during, and after they exercised.
“[I learned with exercise] you are more productive, you feel better, you feel more motivated. I found it also helps me regulate my emotions,” Psychology student Amanda Wrobel said.
Through Mind and Body, students were able to gain a greater appreciation for the way physical and mental health are interconnected.
