“Indigenous Elders always tell us that there are lessons in every challenge we face. The challenges that you have endured to make it to this day, are your teachings. Reflect on them. Embrace them. Carry them with you. Build on them. They are a part of you. Today, tomorrow, and far into the future.” Kimberly Murray, a member of the Kahnesatake Mohawk Nation and Independent Special Interlocutor for Missing Children and Unmarked Graves and Burial Sites associated with Indian Residential Schools, addressed the Justice & Public Safety, Justice Studies, and Kinesiology graduates as she accepted an honourary degree from @uofguelph. She has had an immense impact on Indigenous communities, helping them navigate the legal system ensuring they are treated with respect and fairness.
