Meet the four powerhouses who made our summer: Lidieth Artica, Kayla Fernandez, Saanvi Krishnarajpet, and Penelope De La Cruz, our incredible Escalera Interns through the Escalera Internship Program (EIP) at the Center for Latino Arts and Culture (CLAC) at Rutgers University–New Brunswick. These four showed up and showed out. As CLAC representatives at New Student Orientations, they connected with more than 6,500 incoming students. Yes, you read that number right. They shared our resources, our programs, and our community with every single one. Then they kept going. They led a presentation and tour for more than 30 high school students from Make the Road, helping them picture themselves on a college campus. They adapted to every obstacle and emerged stronger. Watching them grow into leaders all summer was the best part of the job. To Lidieth, Kayla, Saanvi, and Penelope: thank you for your energy, your heart, and your hustle.
