Optimize your Hyrox doubles success
Hyrox doubles isn’t about splitting everything 50/50.
It’s about getting the best performance out of two different athletes.
Here’s how I approach it:
1. Split the work based on fitness
Equal doesn’t mean optimal.
If one athlete is stronger on the sleds, let them do more.
If one athlete is better at wall balls, use that advantage.
Your goal is the fastest team time, not making sure everyone does exactly half.
2. Have the fitter athlete finish the stations
Whenever possible, I want the fitter athlete finishing the station.
Why?
They can push harder knowing they have the upcoming run to recover while their partner helps set the pace.
It also gives the other athlete a little extra recovery before running again.
3. Communicate constantly
Don’t wait until you’re exhausted to figure out who is taking over.
“10 more.”
“Take it.”
“I’m good.”
“You finish.”
Simple communication keeps transitions fast and eliminates confusion.
