Nobody talks enough about how emotions impact your training.
This morning I dropped my daughter off at kindergarten for the first day.
And it hit me.
We spend so much time talking about sleep, nutrition, heart rate, recovery and training load.
But we’re humans.
Emotions are part of performance too.
Maybe you had a stressful day at work.
Maybe something is going on with your family.
Maybe you’re anxious before a race.
Maybe you’re incredibly excited.
All of that comes with you when you train.
And I don’t think the answer is always to ignore it and push through.
Identify the emotion. Name it. Then work WITH it, not through it.
Some days that might mean you still crush the workout.
Some days you might need to adjust.
And some days simply getting out the door is the win.
