#TakeActionTuesday: Athletes deserve to compete without facing racism or abuse, but for many, that is still not the reality. Just this season alone, WNBA players have been subjected to online and in-person harassment and abuse that threatens both their wellbeing and safety. Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray recently spoke out about this ongoing problem when she shared that a man had messaged her a racial slur after a game. Following this and other incidents, the WNBPA and league leadership met to address the racist and abusive messages players have received this season, committing to take a more proactive approach. Players are not the only ones who are affected. Young girls follow their favorite athletes online and read the harmful comments about BIPOC women.
