“I photographed this comb duck (Sarkidiornis sylvicola) at SylvanHeights_BirdPark in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. The center is made up of two parts: one is all about public education (you can see more species of wildfowl than anywhere on Earth) and then there's the conservation breeding side, where they have some of the rarest ducks, geese, swans and other bird species. The center is designed to keep species from going extinct and to educate the public — both are critical missions in wildlife conservation!”
