Abu Saeed was a trusted community leader and an integral part of SETF’s ground team in Rukban. His leadership and deep connection to the community helped make it possible for SETF to reach thousands of displaced Syrians living under siege.
During this period, SETF helped provide food and humanitarian aid to approximately 8,000 civilians, medicine through the camp’s only no-cost pharmacy, education supplies for children, and access to doctors when these essential services were otherwise largely unavailable. After the UN left in 2019, SETF maintained a sustained humanitarian presence in Rukban, continuing to reach civilians during some of the camp’s most critical years.
Today, Abu Saeed continues that commitment to community service as the mayor of his hometown of Mahin, Syria.
