Rodney Sacks bought a bankrupt juice company for $14.5M. Today, Monster Energy is worth around $93B.
In 1992, the former South African lawyer acquired Hansen Natural with just 12 employees, no factory and years of losses ahead.
Within three years, the company’s value had fallen 59%.
He kept going.
Then Sacks spotted the energy drink boom in Europe and launched Monster in 2002: a 16oz can, twice the size of Red Bull and roughly half the price.
By 2005, Hansen’s stock had surged 3,000%.
A decade later, Coca-Cola invested $2.15B and helped take Monster into 140+ countries.
From bankrupt juice brand to one of the biggest beverage companies on earth.
Sometimes the opportunity is hiding inside the asset everyone else has already written off. founded
