Lowball ‘em!! There are multiple situations in every football game where a properly-timed, precision pass needs to be low and away from defenders. This can happen on crossing routes, front corner pylon balls, etc. In most situations a ball that is too high is much worse than a ball that is too low. A ball that comes in 18” higher than intended can be broken up, or worse, it’s at risk of being intercepted. A ball that comes in too low (even in the dirt) is only going to be incomplete. Unfortunately most QBs try to throw low balls by adjusting what they do with their throwing arm, which results in aiming, guiding and overcontrolling the arm. This is never a recipe for success. To throw a low ball, tilt the front shoulder down slightly to be aligned with the intended ball location and then just rip the ball like any other throw. Don’t fear the turf. Don’t ‘place’ it.
