This past weekend in Salt Lake City we had the privilege to honor two local firefighters. On Friday we were joined by Sam Garfield, who has devoted 25 years to protecting and serving the community through Salt Lake County Fire and the Unified Fire Authority. His career has included service as a firefighter, Engineer, Heavy Rescue Technician, and member of Utah Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue. Promoted to a Captain in 2010, Sam has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his career. On Saturday we were joined by the family of Corban Summers. Corban was born on June 13, 1975, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of six children. In his early twenties, he was drawn to the fire service not only to serve his community, but to become someone his children would be proud of.
