Former University of Cambridge professor Jason Arday has died aged 41.⁣ ⁣ Arday, who became the university’s youngest-ever Black professor, resigned earlier this month following allegations that parts of his 2015 PhD thesis had been plagiarized. He denied the allegations.⁣ ⁣ He was found unresponsive by paramedics at a property in Battersea, south London. The Metropolitan Police said his death was being treated as unexpected but was not believed to be suspicious.⁣ ⁣ Cambridge had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Arday’s appointment to its Faculty of Education in 2022, as well as his time at the university.⁣ ⁣ The allegations had also expanded to questions about other academic work and claims made about his career and personal life.⁣ ⁣ Cambridge Vice-Chancellor Deborah Prentice said the university was “desperately saddened” by his death and sent its condolences to his family and friends.⁣ ⁣ #JasonArday #Cambridge #UniversityOfCambridge #Academia #UKNews
