The aluminum vase project in our Fundamentals of Fabrication program is no easy task. Each of the four sides has to be formed with matching curves so the corners line up perfectly, creating a clean fit for the final welds - meaning even a small mistake in one panel can throw off the entire assembly. It’s a challenging exercise in measuring, forming, patience, and precision, while giving students experience with the same sheet metal fabrication techniques used in automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing applications.
