Numbers don’t fall from the sky. Someone decides what to collect and what to ignore, how to clean it, and how to frame it. Every one of those steps is a choice, and choices can be bent. I love this work because there is always a new version of the same trick. This is also why data literacy is non negotiable. When people cannot read data critically, they cannot tell the difference between a number that is true and a number that was built to look true.
