When someone is unkind to our children, our first instinct may be to defend them with anger.
But what if we also taught them to respond with prayer?
Jesus said, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
That does not mean pretending harm did not happen. It does not mean removing healthy boundaries or ignoring injustice.
It means refusing to let resentment take root.
As a family, we can teach our children to:
Pray for the person who hurt them.
Speak the truth with grace.
Forgive as they have been forgiven.
Trust God with justice.
And they will learn this most deeply by watching us.
When our children see us release bitterness, extend mercy, and bring unfair situations to God, they learn that forgiveness is not weakness. It is spiritual strength.
This is discipleship in the ordinary moments.
This is how a family practices grace together.
Who is someone your family can pray for today? 🙏
