Waiting is not wasted time. It is one of the ordinary places where faith is formed. When a child asks, “How much longer?” we have an opportunity to teach more than delayed gratification. We can model self-control, trust, gratitude, and dependence on God. Children learn patience by watching us practice it. They notice whether we respond with frustration or faith. Whether we fill every silence or make room for stillness. Whether we treat waiting as an interruption: or as part of God’s good work in us. “Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!” Psalm 27:14 In the home, waiting becomes discipleship. It teaches our children that love does not demand immediate answers. Growth takes time. God is faithful in the delay.
