Space stocks are back in focus after a wave of major earnings and one of the most-watched share unlocks in recent memory. SpaceX, trading under the ticker SPCX, is now hovering around 138 dollars, up more than 4 percent and back above its 135 dollar IPO price after digesting the first tranche of its post-IPO lockup expiration. Underneath the volatility, the company's second-quarter earnings revealed that Starlink and its connectivity division generated 1.656 billion dollars in operating income, enough to offset roughly 92 percent of the combined losses from the Space and AI divisions. Even so, Steve Eisman, the investor made famous by The Big Short, recently said SpaceX is hard to value like an ordinary company because Elon Musk has "believers, not investors." Rocket Lab, meanwhile, is the most-cited pure-play space stock beyond SpaceX.
